Business Central Supply Chain Management in Singapore and Malaysia

Purchasing, inventory and warehouse work in one Business Central setup

Business Central can run purchasing, stock and warehouse work in one system. Whether it does depends on how it is set up. Cactoz sets it up for wholesale and distribution businesses in Singapore and Malaysia.

We map how goods move through your business, then configure locations, bins, item tracking and reorder rules to match. We move your item, vendor and stock data across, train your team, and support you after go-live.

What We Offer

Four areas we set up, using Business Central’s own purchasing, inventory, warehouse and planning features.

Purchasing and suppliers

Business Central handles the buying side from quote to invoice. We set up the documents and rules your buyers will use every day.

• Purchase quotes and orders, with partial receipts as stock arrives.
• Blanket purchase orders for large quantities delivered over several shipments.
• Drop shipments, where a sales order is linked to a purchase order and the vendor ships straight to your customer.
• Approval workflows, for example manager sign-off on large purchases.
• Item charges, so freight, insurance and duties are added to the landed cost of what you buy.

Inventory and warehouse

Business Central offers five levels of warehouse handling, from posting straight from orders to directed pick and put-away. We choose the level that fits your warehouse, not the most complex one. We also set up stockkeeping units for location-specific item details and physical inventory counts. For more on stock control, see our Inventory Management page.

• Locations, bins and zones that mirror your physical layout.
• Receiving, put-away, picking and shipping activities.
• Lot, serial and package tracking with expiry dates, and picking that suggests the earliest expiry first.
• Tracing forwards to customers and backwards to suppliers, useful in a recall.
• Transfer orders between locations, with an in-transit location while stock is on the move.

Planning and replenishment

Business Central can suggest what to buy or transfer, and when, based on your stock levels and demand. We set the parameters so its suggestions make sense for your items.

• Four reordering policies: Fixed Reorder Qty., Maximum Qty., Order and Lot-for-Lot.
• Reorder points, safety stock and lead times, set at item or location level.
• The requisition worksheet, which proposes purchase and transfer orders for wholesale businesses.
• Demand forecasts by location and variant, for seasonal peaks and long supplier lead times.
• Order promising, which calculates a delivery date you can commit to.

Already on Business Central, or moving to it?

Some businesses run Business Central for finance only and keep stock in spreadsheets or an older system. We fix that from either direction.

• A review of your current setup: locations, item data, warehouse configuration and planning parameters.
• Tuning where the stock in the system and the stock on the shelf disagree.
• Migration of items, vendors and opening stock from spreadsheets or your old system.
• Training for buyers, warehouse staff and planners.
• Support after go-live.

Supply Chain Management Goes Beyond the Software

We start by mapping how goods and orders move through your business today. Then we configure Business Central to match, migrate your data, and test before go-live. Your team is trained on the processes they will use, and we stay on for support afterwards.

Does Business Central include warehouse management?

Yes. Business Central supports five levels of warehouse handling, from posting directly from orders to directed pick and put-away, where bin codes are mandatory. Which level suits you depends on how your warehouse runs, and some features depend on your licence. We map your processes and check the licence before we scope.

Yes. You can assign serial, lot and package numbers when items arrive on a purchase order, and they carry through to shipment. Expiry dates are recorded, the earliest expiry is suggested first when picking, and you can trace an item forwards to customers or backwards to suppliers.

Yes, through item charges. Freight, insurance and duties are assigned to a purchase receipt, either on the purchase document or later through a separate invoice, and they raise the landed cost of the items. The charge can be spread equally, or by amount, weight or volume.

Yes. We migrate items, vendors and opening stock from spreadsheets or your old system. The timeline depends on how much data you have, so we scope it after a short discussion.
